Hi James here from One 2 Pass Driving School, a Caloundra driving school instructor.

Today I’m going to talk about lesson value and package value.

As per normal on my blogs, I’m going to base this on my own personal opinion or experience and / or supported from sources, facts and / or legislation quoted for driving on Queensland’s roads.

Q. I am thinking about purchasing some lessons for my son or daughter, what would you suggest?

This my friends is the question I hear the most and I shall do my best to answer this question based on the experiences noted and best results to date.

2 Hour Lesson.

The results still speak for themselves. Overall this is the greatest lesson option hands down. The two hour lesson really allows me time to connect with my students, find out which area or manoeuvre/s that he or she is struggling with.  Identify strategies on how we tackle and manage aspects to gain confidence and to eventually pass your examination.  To become the best safe and successful driver you are able to be.

I find both parents and students often tell me they are nervous or struggle with anxiety. The benefit with driving with an instructor is the dual controlled pedals in the car which means an instructor can assist in reducing the level of anxiety that an individual student might experience.

During a structured and informative lessons I believe that both the student and the instructor need to make a positive connection. Communication is required by both parties. I believe that laughter is the best medicine and this always helps in all (most) situations.

Whilst you know your children better than anyone, sometimes the close relationship between parent and child means it’s not always possible or practical for a parent to give the best lesson to their child. I realise  naturally cost is a factor in the decision making process.  Only you as the parent can know what the best option is for your son or daughter and what will make them a safe successful driver.

As per my website, I have set up 4 main value lesson package options. All my lessons start with the meet and greet of my student. I do an induction of the car, the controls and their locations. I explain the gears and where to find them. Check the friction point for the clutch and when ready, start our lesson.

10 Lesson (10 x 1 hour lessons)

How would I get the most value from this package of 10 lessons? My experience and that of my students who I teach and work with the best results appear that the best value breakdown is:

3 x 2 hour lesson with the remaining 4 x 1 hour lessons.

Why? All students need to be familiar with the vehicle and feeling the clutch pinch point. Slow feet and Fast hands is the comment I say the most with all the students when practising manoeuvres.

The first 4 x 1 hour lessons we focus on driving and sitting in the car, holding the car straight, driving, focusing on the awareness on being a safe driver of a vehicle.

The last 6 x 1 hour lessons are best set into 3 x 2 hour lessons.

We have done basic car control in the first hourly lessons, now we have to learn how to accomplish and complete the required manoeuvres – Reverse parallel park, straight line reverse, turn around, hill starts and u-turns (gear changes for automatic drivers). Using the 2 hour block lessons we really get to focus on these required skills thus giving the student more confidence in their ability to be a safe and successful driver.

Benefits:

If you are thinking of booking lessons for your son or daughter here’s what we know about having lessons with One 2 Pass Driving School, a qualified instructor and it works like this. A 1 hour with an instructor equates to a 3 hour log book lesson.  So a 10 hour Lesson package equates to 30 hours of log book hours. This is fundamentally the reason we complete the 10 lesson package. This can only be achieved with a qualified driving school.

1 x hour = 3 x hours / 10 x hours = 30 x hours logged!

My best advise is complete this package as quickly as possible over a couple of weeks. The results will speak for themselves and more importantly your relationship with your son or daughter, mother or father remains strong and less stressful knowing you have chosen One 2 Pass Driving School to start your child’s safe driving success!

TIP: SLOW FEET FAST HANDS – for all manoeuvres required for passing your examination.

6 Lesson (6 x 1 hour lessons)

How would I get the most value from this package of 6 lessons?

My experience and that of my students who I teach and work best appear with the best value breakdown 2 x 1 hour lesson with the remaining 2 x 2 hour lessons.

Here’s why…. All students need to be familiar with the vehicle and feeling the clutch pinch point.

Slow feet and Fast hands is the comment I say the most with all the students when practising their manoeuvres.

The first 2 – 1 x hour lessons we focus on driving and sitting in the car, holding the car straight, driving, focusing on the awareness on being a safe driver of a vehicle.

The last 4 – 1 x hour lessons are best set into 2 x 2 hour lessons.

We have done basics car control in the first hourly lessons, now we have to learn how to do accomplish and complete the required manoeuvres – Reverse parallel park, straight line reverse, turn around, hill starts and u-turns (gear changes for automatic drivers). Using the 2 hour block lessons we really get to focus on these required skills thus giving the student more confidence in their ability to be a safe and successful driver.

3 Lesson (3 x 1 hours)

How would I get the most value from this package of 3 x 1 hour lessons?

My experience and that of my students who I teach and work with show the best result for this lesson package is 2 x 90 minute lessons.

Here’s why…. All students need to be familiar with the vehicle and feeling the clutch pinch point. Slow feet and Fast hands is the comment I say the most with all the students when practising their manoeuvres.

During these 2 x 90 minute lessons, the students are normally close to completing their 100 hour log book and have booked their test date and really just want to hone their skill set for being a safe driver.

In the informative interactive lesson we practice and demonstrate the required manoeuvres with different locations so we know that the students can perform anywhere, anytime the required manoeuvres for all driving situation and being a safe driver.

1 Lesson (1 Hour)

How would I get the most value from this lesson?

n this short brief lesson we know the student can manage the car, has a skill set and knowledge of the manoeuvres as they have already paid One 2 Pass Driving School to completed their 10 Lesson Package, most likely completed the necessary 100 hour and submitted their log book. This lesson will often be for a student who is refreshing their skill set prior to taking the examination with Transport and Main Roads and passing to gain their red P’s.

Slow feet and Fast hands is the comment I say the most with all the students when practising their manoeuvres. Slow your manoeuvres down…..  this gives your brain time to focus, hands to follow and decisions made strongly and accurately.
