Hi, James here, your friendly One 2 Pass Driving School Instructor in Caloundra.
As per normal on my blogs, I’m going to base this on my own personal opinion or experience and / or supported from sources, facts and / or legislation quoted for driving on Queensland’s roads.
Today I’m going to talk about – What you should look for in a great driving instructor.
So this is a great topic… I like to discuss many topics of driving with my students. I feel this helps each and every student in their preparation as a safe driver that is looking to successfully pass their practical driving examination test.
I’m James and I’m great driving instructor. Now I hear you saying why are you a great instructor. Well, for me that a pretty simple answer. I love the my job! No 2 students are the same. No 2 students learn the same. There is no rule about how quickly each student will learn the necessary skills of becoming a great and safe driver, but I can assure you that when your son or daughter, brother or sister, mum or dad are having an informative driving lesson with myself you are getting the current and relevant knowledge of the QLD Road rules.
This is why I believe I am a great driving instructor.
I own and operate One 2 Pass Driving School so you are having lessons with myself, not an employee or a sub contractor who may not care about you in quite the same way.
I am patient, calm, supportive, chatty and friendly. I ask questions and listen for answers. We share conversations interactively between student and instructor. We have a serious side to learning the QLD Road rules and also laugh heartily together during lessons. I am flexible with the structure of the lessons, seeking out your personality, re-enforcing the knowledge and understanding of the QLD Road rules each driving lesson. I am repetitive with information and it’s delivery, which effectively reinforces students knowledge base. Lessons are Interactive with tools and demonstrations. I am genuinely working hard to guide each and every student to a successful pass on their manual or automatic practical driving test.
I feel it is very important for the instructor and student to have a great connection to achieve optimum results. This doesn’t always happen, as happens in all areas of life. If there is not a good connection, it is probably better to seek out a different instructor. For me, I find laughter always helps in the driving lessons. This can help to ease the nerves or anxiety and generally to help the student relax and to focus for listening and driving.
Driving on local Caloundra roads are roads that are used in the practical driving tests. Students gain first hand knowledge of locations and real life situations and experience that they can continue to expect for general driving in their future.
Listening to the students, engaging the individual’s in conversation about driving, how to drive safely, actions and reactions. Slow feet and fast hands, mirrors, inceptors and shoulder checks. Often we talk about anxiety and adrenaline and how this may affect ones thinking and the decision making process.
When you purchase package of 10 driving lessons – this equates of 1 hour = 3 hours with an instructor, 10 hours = 30 hours. My student and I have a great timeline in which to learn our required manoeuvres that is also required for when the student eventually takes his or her practical driving test.
Watching the students confidence and abilities increase during our driving lessons is a huge part of why I love this job. My biggest reward is to take the student to the Transport and Main Roads department on test day, either the Caloundra office or the Buderim office and watching all the nerves and excitement before the test. Returning from the practical driving test and receiving the debrief from the examiner about the test given and hopefully the Pass that is received. The next moment of time when the student gets to share their news of successfully obtaining their red P’s with their loved one’s – Mum or Dads limo just got made redundant. Win for Win for everyone!
I have a cool job, meet some very cool students who are going to make some massive impacts and changes. Some as potential leaders in their chosen fields in our local community, state, country or even internationally.
